I need to have an interpretation of the following statistics ES 2 21 2023
I need to have an interpretation of the following statistics:
ES = 2.21 = (2.7 – 1.94) = 0.76
=√[(3022+ 482) / 2]= (9.12 + 6.15)= 15.27/2= √7.64 = 2.76
It’s based on a study about Isopropyl Alcolohol being inhaled post-operatively to relieve nausea and vomitting. The study is attached. I also need to know if the study would be more prone to a Type 1 or Type II error, I believe it’s Type I but I’m still learning so any tutoring along with this would be good.
Below is the entire question I need help with:
Examine Table 3 on page 125 of the article. Please calculate the effect sizes (Cohen’s d) for the difference between the two groups means on post-test DOS (what he calls a descriptive ordinal scale measuring vomiting) and also the cost variable in dollars. Interpret these effect sizes with respect to their magnitude. Based on the observed effect sizes would this study warrant replication?
ES = 2.21 = (2.7 – 1.94) = 0.76
=√[(3022+ 482) / 2]= (9.12 + 6.15)= 15.27/2= √7.64 = 2.76
