Discussion features readings in multicultural poetry, including selected texts from the traditions of Native-American poetry.
General instructions: Please choose ONE poem from each category/forum and provide at least one post for each of your selected poems. Additionally, cover at least one poetic device in one of your posts/poems. You’re welcome to cover more than two poems and/or to compare/contrast two texts in a single post, as long as you participate in all three mini-forums.

The discussion forum is open-ended, so you may determine your topics and approaches, as long as you cover at least one poetic device in at least one poem. How does this literary technique contribute to the overall presentation and meaning of the poem?
Some poetic elements to consider: the speaker of the poem; the action of the poem; setting; form/structure (most of these modern poems are free verse or open-form poetry); repetition and parallelism; tone and/or diction (style); rhyme; rhythm/meter; sound and rhythm devices like alliteration, assonance, onomatopoeia, etc.; syntax/word order and punctuation; imagery; and types of figurative language: imagery, allusion, metaphor/simile, symbolism, personification, irony, hyperbole, synecdoche, and so on.
