The pedagogy project is an opportunity to think about how you would educate others about a specific cultural/intercultural concept or theory. Based on a context and content relevant to your interests, you will design a lesson or training for a specific population. You will describe the participants, your goal, then describe how you would sequence the concepts, and how you would assess outcomes.
Include the following in your paper (with APA-style headings):
- Introduction and Rationale
- Audience: Who you are teaching/training, the number, their backgrounds, and likely level of intercultural sensitivity (Bennett & Bennett, 2004).
- Context: Are you teaching in a classroom? What set up? A corporate training room? Online? How does this fit into a larger context (a whole course or professional development program, or is it a stand-alone training)?
- Goals: What do you want to accomplish in this specific lesson? Attitudes, Knowledge, Skills?
- Methods: Provide an overview, then describe step-by-step sequence you would follow to teach your concept and the rational for teaching it that way.
- Evaluation: How would you evaluate what students/participants got out of the lesson?
- Conclusion, including what you learned through this process
Write in complete sentences; however, it is fine to use bullet points or numbered lists in the methods section to indicate the steps you would take. Papers are due on the date listed on the syllabus. Please submit them online, but be prepared to talk about them in class that night (you might want to have an electronic or paper copy to refer to).
