Create an exponent graph in Excel and play with it until you are convinced that, no matter what your Lambda is, constant percentage increase year over year produces exponential growth. Also continue playing with the numbers until you convince yourself that exponential change shows as a straight line on a semi-log plot. No need to turn anything in here: I changed my mind since lecture time.
Create a population model similar to the one analyzed in the second half of the lecture. Feel free to duplicate the model exactly, or change the maximal age, year-to-year survival probabilities or number of generations. Play with the model until you are convinced that, if left alone, a hypothetical population achieves a constant lambda over a few generations, and that the age distribution approaches stable. Turn in your Excel file with a plot of Lambda over time, and a semi-log plot of different age classes. Do your best; refer to Ch. 10 in Bowen as needed.
