For this week’s assignment, you will be required to create or enhance your LinkedIn profile. Click here (Links to an external site.) for a LinkedIn Profile Checklist for College Students. (scroll down to view the checklist)
To begin the assignment:
- If you do not have a LinkedIn account already, you will need to sign up for one at www.linkedin.com (Links to an external site.).
- Once you have an account, you will need to build your profile.
- For this assignment, you must include the following items in your profile.
- NAME: ERICA BEACH
- A professional photo/head shot. Click Here (Links to an external site.) for an article with quick tips!
- A Headline message (below are examples) under your photo (I WANT MY HEADLINE TO SAY: ASPIRING OFFICE MANAGER)
- Aspiring Health Information Technician (what you’re aspiring to)
- Human Resource Management Professional (current industry)
- Seeking Opportunities in Sales/Marketing (what you’re aspiring to)
- Assistant Director at ABC University (your current position/company)
- ‘About’ section (include key words/skills for jobs you’re aspiring to or skills gained from past experiences, future aspirations, certifications, and/or a customized written version of your Elevator Pitch)
- ‘Experience’ section (fully complete)
- ‘Education’ section (all college experiences, training, etc.)
- Join at least 3 industry groups that pertains to your current or ideal industry
- To find groups, use the search bar and type ‘Government Jobs’, click enter, then look for the ‘More’ tab at the top, then click on Groups tab
- Click “Request to Join” after you research what each Group has to offer
- Follow at least 3 organizations in your current or ideal industry
- To find companies, type in a company name in search bar, click enter
- Once you locate them, click the Follow tab
- Once your profile is complete, submit the link to your LinkedIn profile as a document attachment. Your link might look like mine: https://www.linkedin.com/in/terrencehood/. (Links to an external site.)
- Test your link to make sure it goes to your Profile – this is worth 5 points.
