For this module’s case study, first, I’d like you to peruse MSF’s website (http://www.msf.org/ (Links to an external site.)), particularly the “About USâ€, “What We Doâ€, “Where We Work”, “Resources†sections, and MSF’s International Activity Report (at the bottom of the homepage), so you have a good idea about the mission of the INGO and the projects they work on.
After you familiarize yourself with the INGO, I’d like you to discuss the case (pp.297-324 of the casebook) based on up to TWO of the following questions:
1.What is the main sources of funding for MSF, and what’s the percentage share of each source (based on Exhibit 5 of the case book and/or its most recent International Financial Reports online https://www.msf.org/reports-and-finances (Links to an external site.))?
2.Why do you think MSF relied (and still relies) heavily on one source than other sources?
3.Were there any differences in MSF regional offices’ funding structure (i.e. Doctors Without Borders, or MSF’s US office, vs. MSF France, or MSF in other countries)?
4.What were the main challenges MSF faced and how did they address these challenges?
