Issue Review Papers should not be approached like an essay for English class.Rather answer each question in order.
Make sure you fully address each question, but be concise.
- (27 pts total) Position on issue
- (5 pts) In a sentence, summarize one possible position on the issue. (Claim)
- (18 pts) List three facts or ideas (Evidence) from the readings that support the position (cite readings).Explain your reasoning of how the evidence supports the position (Reasoning).
- (4 pts) What are the implications of this position? In other words, if this position were enacted, what could happen next?
- (27 pts total) Conflicting position on issue
- (5 pts) In a sentence, summarize another possible position on the issue. (Claim)
- (18 pts) List three facts or ideas (Evidence) from the readings that support the position (cite readings).Explain your reasoning of how the evidence supports the position (Reasoning).
- (4 pts) What are the implications of this position? In other words, if this position were enacted, what could happen next?
- (10 pts.)What was the most interesting thing that you learned studying this issue?Why was it interesting to you?
- (20 pts total) Your position (may be similar but not exactly the same as Q1 or Q2)
- (5 pts) In a sentence, summarize your position on the issue. (Claim)
- (15 pts) List three facts or ideas (Evidence) that support your position.Explain your reasoning of how the evidence supports your position (Reasoning). At least two supports must come from articles. The articles may be ones assigned in class or ones you found on your own.The third support may be from an article or may be from personal experience/ personal moral code/ etc.
- (6 pts) Clarity, grammar, and spelling

In general, questions 2 and 3 will take the form of a pro-position (ex. “Yes, the US should build more nuclear power plants) and a con-position (ex. “No, the US should not build more nuclear power plants).However, other more nuanced positions are possible and encouraged (ex. “The US should promote all forms of non-fossil fuel energy production, including nuclear, solar, and wind.)Supports/evidence for questions 2 and 3 should come from the readings.Supports for question 6 may come from the in-class readings, external readings, or personal experience.
