Discussion 2: Motivation to Learn by using Technology
Discussion 2 will be re-opened by noon today. You will have until Friday, March 01, 2019 by 5:00 p.m. to complete. Please adhere to this extended deadline.
Motivation promotes active engagement in the classroom. As human beings, we have two types of motivation: Extrinsic Motivation and Intrinsic Motivation. Although technology can be fascinating, the learner must have an extrinsic and intrinsic motivation to utilize technology in the learning process.
Your task to to complete the following:
1) Differentiate extrinsic and intrinsic motivation (1 or 2 paragraphs)
2) Explain how the use of technology can extrinsically and intrinsically motivate a learner (1 or 2 paragraphs)
3) Provide an example of the use of a technology resource (i.e. a website or app.). Explain the following:
a. The purpose of this website or app
b. The main area(s) of the site (or app) use
c. Which personal and/or professional skills are developed from this site or app
d. Learning activities (how to purse my learning)

Technology resources: Sparkpeople.com
a. Purpose: provides free tools, resources and support for adults who want to improve their diets, establish a healthy lifestyle, get physically active, lose weight and/or manage their weight.
b. Main area(s): Health and physical fitness. This can be used in a health or nutrition course.
c. Personal skill: This helped me in manage my diet (right balanced meals) and being more active.
Professional skill: By using this help, I feel better and am more alert at work (better job performance).
d. Learning activities: I completed activities the taught me about calorie count and proper daily water intake.
