INITIAL POST – Analyze the positions of black Conservatives who remain critical of the goals of the Civil Rights Movement and the Great Society. Explain at least two (2) programs or policies that led some African-Americans to reject the involvement of the government in solving the race issues facing America. Next, point out the major events from the Civil Rights Movement that have made black Conservatives reject many of the solutions that equality activists put forward in the 1970s and 1980s. In the classmate response, either support or detract from your classmate’s opinion on the legitimacy of black conservative’s complaints about the Civil Rights Movement and the Great Society.

Therefore even black liberals knew it was more to involved just gather blacks to understand that its going to take more than voicing the opinion, but also voting on the right cause. “In 1967, however, Black nationalists, some decidedly radical, others more moderate, started claiming that traditional political strategies, such as the ones used by the Civil Rights Movement at the time, were not the answer to the plight of African Americans. Stokely Carmichael and ideologist Charles Hamilton cadre through the notion of Black Power, which based fundamental premise before the group could open to society. It aim was to fight for systemic racism. “In 1972, in Gary, Indiana, the first black national convention was organized with Black nationalists and liberal integrationists who were willing to create a political consensus for the defense of collective interests. Because the liberal integrationist strategies adopted by the new Black elected officials were heavily criticized, the Gary convention failed to bring political unity and the failure of the following conventions, in 1974, 1978 and 1980.
