Short Reflection: a short reflection paper of 2-3 double-spaced pages, times new roman point 12 font.
In these short reflections, I expect you to synthesize and reflect on readings and lecture material to respond to the prompt. You can draw on material from outside class, but it is not necessary. Assignments will be graded on a pass/fail basis, and due on Saturday at 11:59 pm.
Week 9 Prompt: Consider the ways in which neighborhood composition and segregation shapes inequality. To do this, I’d like you to take a look at census data and explore neighborhood characteristics of Chicago and the neighborhood you grew up in. What does it mean to say that race is a social fiction, and yet has real social effects? Further instructions are included in the attachment above.
