This Discussion has multiple stages that is explained in the Silence of the Lambs Hero’s Journey Analysis. Before you do this Discussion, you should have read Essay #2, “The Stages of the Hero’s Journey,” watched Silence of the Lambs, and filled out “The Hero’s Journey Worksheet.”
Then, answer the following questions in the Discussion and attach the Worksheet.
1.) What types of heroic qualities does Clarice Starling embody? (Take a look at the list of qualities mentioned above). Also, give examples from the film to support two or three of these qualities.
2.) Clarice Starling is not the typical heroine. What types of adversity does she have to overcome in order to reach heroic status? And, does she commit any acts that would not be considered heroic in order to achieve her goals? Explain.
3.) After filling out “The Hero’s Journey Worksheet,” how closely does her journey reflect the stages of the “Hero’s Journey”? Are there parts of the movie that don’t support this formula? Be prepared to give some examples.
4.) As with most heroes (especially in literature or film), there’s normally a villain or antagonist. Hannibal Lecter is all of these, as well as an antihero. What makes Lecter such an appealing and popular character, considering that he is a serial killer, cannibal, etc.? What does this say about the viewer
