Proposing An Amendment To The Constitution Of The USA Regarding Healthcare

In the Discussion Activity for Module 1, you explored some of the initial proposed rights/amendments the Framers considered (with a few being adopted, and many others rejected). So that you may see that the desire to “amend” the U.S. Constitution has not abated, find a recent proposal introduced in Congress (i.e., either in the House of Representatives or the Senate) to amend it.
Go to the Congress.gov (Links to an external site.) website. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and from the “Site Content” column at the far left of the page, select the “Legislation” link. There, in the left-hand column, under the “Congress” heading, select the “Show more” option, and then place a check-mark into the top three boxes (e.g., at the time this is created it would be for “116,” “115,” and “114.” Then in the “Browse” search box at the top of the page (i.e., where it says “Examples: hr5, sres9, “health care”), type your search words (e.g., “amendment to the Constitution of the United States,” “amendment to the United States Constitution,” etc.), and select the “Search” icon to the right (i.e., the magnifying glass in the black box). A list should then appear which shows search results for “bills containing your phrase exactly as entered,” and “bills containing all your search words near each other in any order,” from which you should be able to find usable proposals.
Important Note
You are to select one other than one selected and already discussed, i.e., posted, by one of your classmates (unless all of them have been previously selected and discussed). Finally, there are no “dibs” or claiming a selection early in the module but not actually submitting it until later in the module week, as the date/time of posting (i.e., not simply a message stating that you desire to do the one selected) is what will determine whose was “first” and someone posting the same one thereafter will need to do a different one for credit.
Provide the title and number of the bill/resolution (including the Congress number and session), as well as who introduced it (and the number of co-sponsors, if any), when it was introduced, and a brief description/synopsis of what the amendment would purportedly accomplish. Finally, give your position, supported by cogent reasons/arguments, on whether or not this proposed amendment should be adopted.
