The federal courts play a significant role in defining and shaping homeland security policy. As such, your success as a homeland security professional will require an ability to locate, analyze, and apply federal court decisions to your work.
Locate one current case that relates to homeland security policy. This can be anything related to border security, disaster management, cyber, or anything that generally fits under the term “homeland security.” Although you have wide discretion in what you choose, make sure it’s recent, relevant, and at the federal level. Once you’ve selected a case, briefly summarize the factors at play, the possible consequences to homeland security, then provide your own analysis (i.e. opinion) about the outcome.
