In many communities, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have the most regulatory control over
reimbursement of EMS. This may be through Medicaid in conjunction with the state’s regulatory requirements. It may be
under Medicare, which is the insurance predominantly covering patients age 65 or older, as well as those who have
qualifying conditions. The reimbursement by Medicare is not without challenges.
Using a minimum of three sources, one of which may be your textbook, you will construct a PowerPoint presentation to
deliver training in your organization. You should cover at a minimum:
the relationship between Medicare and EMS,
what is required to obtain reimbursement,
and how reimbursement is structured under CMS for ambulance transport.
You are encouraged to use the notes section of the slides to incorporate how you would present the information on each of
your slides.
Your presentation should contain a minimum of 10 slides, not including the title and reference slides. You should include
graphics, tables, figures, or other forms of visual information in your presentation.
All sources used must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citations. All references
and citations used must be in APA style.
