Read Chapters 10 and 17 in your textbook Cultural Diversity: A Primer for the Human Services. Chapter 10 discusses the impact of genocide on such groups as South Africans, Native Americans, Japanese Americans, and Jews resulting in unresolved grief for many of them. In efforts to heal, compensation from the U.S. government in the form of reparations were given to Japanese Americans but has yet to happen for African Americans for slavery. Can reparations help with the healing process and alleviate economic burdens of those still impacted by trauma inflicted on by the U.S. government? Chapter 17 presents cross-cultural work with White ethnic groups such as Jews, Poles, Greeks, Italians, Armenians, and other ethnic groups from the Russian Republic.
