Part 2 student discussions that need responses

1.What did you learn that you did not expect to learn?
HA! Nearly everything that we went over in class I had extremely limited knowledge on. I liked learning about Letters of Credit, NAFTA, the EU, the WTO, how complicated forming a contract can be and the just how much goes into international trade and how it effects so much. Basically, everything we went over in class was something new that I learned, and I really was not sure what I was getting into when I started this class.
2.How will you apply your new skills or knowledge at your current or future workplace?
Hmm…not much has any effect on my current workplace. It was nice learning about the illegal subsidies and Boeing/Airbus. I did do a bit of research out of the textbook for that because I found it interesting, but it doesn’t change my day-to-day work really. Same with at the beginning of the quarter when I was wondering about Syria and the US airstrikes, does not directly affect my daily work but is nice to have that knowledge.
In my goals for a future workplace, the letters of credit would be something I think I might need to know about and the basics that we went over in this class are always good to know. I am happier about the fact that when the news started talking about Trump wanting to increase tariffs on steel and aluminum, I had a more solid idea of what that could mean in an international context. I think that before, I just would have Googled it and tried to piece it together but now if I hear something like that, I know what I would be looking for. I am also glad to know about all the different government websites that were mentioned in the text, I had gone through a fair amount of them to see what was on them and it was interesting to me.
I am also excited to use what I have learned to debate with my father-in-law more effectively, haha!
3.What are your suggestions for improving the class?
My suggestion for improving the class is not exactly for the class but I would recommend having an introductory course in the bachelor’s program. There was so much that I felt I should have known before this class and I think that if there had been an undergrad course, I would have been better prepared. I think I did well in the course so far (haven’t taken my final yet) but it really would have been nice to have felt more prepared for it.

I learned much of new knowledge. Although my English is not good, second language is very difficult for me, but I try to understand, through dictionaries and so on. My undergraduate course is logistics management, so I can understand some abstruse knowledge more easily, but this is also very difficult for me. I study hard and hope that these can help me. Unfortunately, some professional terms are problematic for foreign students, because of different cultural backgrounds, but I believe this is not an excuse and reason.
I learned new knowledge, if I continue to engage in the logistics industry, I believe that it is very helpful to me, this course is very professional, system help me solve some confusion, if I encounter some difficulties about the law and trade, I believe this book is very helpful. Especially in terms of law, we all know different cultural details will have different opinions. As an international student, I am very lucky to learn American laws through this course. For me, it’s not only about law and trade, but also about American culture. Culture will affect the law and society. I can feel many different ideas in the process of learning. I was really confused at first, but now I understand this culture.
I suggest reading more in book, I hope the professor can prepare some small videos and explain some professional words. Because this course is very difficult, especially for the foreign students, I hope to have some small video to explain some professional words and concepts. This will assist us in understand the course more easily. It is extremely fortunate that our professors can tell me how to understand these problems and assignments in the way I am confused by mail. Any effort will be rewarded, and a serious study of the course will surely get new knowledge.
