ASSIGNMENT:
This essay will take an in-depth look at the modern workplace. What elements of a work
place contribute to maximum productivity, or what elements need to be present to make a workplace
successful?
REQUIREMENTS:
Seven sources, three of which must be from a database and cited as such. Five quotes
are required for this assignment. Each of your points must have, at the very least, one quote to support
it.

Introduction
—Prepare one paragraph that includes an
attention getter, relevant background
information
and a
clear thesis
(in that order). Your relevant information should include enough
information about the subject to explain your stance to a reader who is unfamiliar with the
subject matter. Your thesis should be clear and indicate whether or not you believe the
education system effectively prepares students for the real world or college.
2.
Body Components

Arrange 3-4 body paragraphs with
topic sentences
identifying a
clear
point for each
section. These paragraphs are your evidence to support your thesis statement.

You should use clear topic sentences for each body paragraph and include a quote to
support that topic sentence later in the paragraph.
3.
Rebuttal –
Acknowledge the opposition’s stance. Be brief, but make sure to explain what the
other side believes. Incorporate a quotation that the opposition would use to support their
claim. Be careful not to contradict your stance in this paragraph.
4.
Conclusion—
Write a paragraph that is 5-6 sentences long that immediately restates your thesis,
recaps your three main points and ends with a closing statement.
5.
Works Cited
—You are using three sources, so cite them at the end of the paper in correct MLA
form. An additional page for the works cited is not necessary if the
entire
works cited fits on the
page below your conclusion.
6.
Outline –
An outline should be included on a separate sheet at the
end
of your paper.
