Imagine being a patient in a healthcare provider’s office and you feel like your concerns are not being heard. Additionally, the provider is not communicating with you in a way that is easily comprehensible.
Now, imagine that you are a patient from a different culture and/or special population. The materials within the provider’s office are not in a language you understand or delivered in a manner that you can process.
In this assignment, you are taking the role of a Patient Diversity Coordinator. Explain the value of communication in health practices and the role it plays within our healthcare system today. Research services available at a local healthcare system or clinic. How would you advocate for the patients that are from diverse population and communicate their needs to ensure they get the quality of care needed?
