The term “knowledge†to me means something you learn in an educational setting but also something that can be learned in an unconventional and/or unintentional setting such as life experiences. “Truth†and “belief†can be opinion-based because everybody has their own version of these terms. For example, I believe Beyonce is the greatest performer of all time but others may say Prince or Michael Jackson is. Truth is also a matter of opinion for example, twin siblings can grow up in the same household, have the same life-experiences but as adults one sibling could describe their childhood as bad while the other could describe it as the opposite. It is all the matter of ones opinion.
These three concepts will be important in this class to help gain a deeper understanding of the material. With own knowledge and beliefs we can interpret the meaning of various readings and assignments. Since this class is critical thinking, we will have to use logical thinking to analyze and evaluate information. Even though, we will be reading the same material, we all may analyze and comprehend it differently. Being able to critically think is also very important when it comes to problem solving. These skills will be essential in the nursing field, so it is important to effectively practice them.

Sir Francis Bacon once said that “knowledge itself is power.†If you have the chance to get an education you should do it. Getting an education can be challenging but it’s totally rewarding. You come across many different viewpoints of peoples way of thinking and a chance to learn some bright ideas. Therefore, with an education comes knowledge— acquiring skills and information from what you have learned and picked up from while you were being taught something. Truth, correlates to the world and physical things around us— something that we can see, as opposed to things we can’t see. Belief, is an idea that we think is true and hold great power to. It is something that has somewhat evidence, but can’t be proven true, or no evidence at all. Usually, a group of individuals follow the same set of regulations or ceremonies of a specific belief. Critical thinking involves a set of process like observing, analyzing and gathering facts to help us better understand the way we learn and how others learn as well. Knowledge, truth, and belief all go hand in hand in terms of guiding us to not always fall for what we’re thrown at but to question it and analyze it ourselves.
