In pairs, students will select a well-known or little-known mixed race individual in US society. Students will research the contributions of this person to US society.
Requirements
Using at least four credible* sources, the group will compile a short biography, a history of their identity (from personal accounts if available, including how they identify, how they are classified, any associated privileges or stigma, etc.), and their contributions to their community and society at large. Students will be required to choose their person (and inform Dr. Lê) by the deadline on the syllabus. No group may use the same person as another group.
Presentation
The presentation is worth 100 points. Groups will make a PowerPoint or Prezi presentation about their chosen person. It should follow the requirements below. However, it can incorporate additional media including but not limited to very short video clips (under 2 minutes), pictures, and social media posts by the person.
Your slide show should have the following section headings and content:
Biography: describe the origins and background of your person. Examples of questions to consider: What was their family makeup/ancestry? Where did they live? Did they go to college, if so which one? What are they known for doing, if anything? Minimum of two credible, outside sources required.

Identity History: detail how this person identifies, rom personal accounts if available, including their racial and ethnic identity, how they are classified by others, and any associated privileges or stigma attached to those. This section mustinclude concepts and research from the course. Minimum of one course reading required (not including Gaskins or Senna).

Contributions: specifically detail what your person has contributed to their community (regional, state-wide, city, racial community, ethnic community, etc.) and to society at large (whether directly or indirectly). Minimum of two credible, outside sources required.

Formatting Requirements
The final slide should be a works cited list. You may use APA or MLA citation formatting.
