annoteded Bibliography contains the sources you used in the ELP-Paper. It is important that you start your ELP research immediately. Each entry contains the citation of the source in correct MLA Format and an annotation on the source following the citation.
Two entries are required in this assignment.
- Book.
- Database – an article from a professional journal.
DIRECTIONS:
Each entry must contains a complete citation in the latest MLA Format and an accompanying annotation. Use the following site for MLA citation information.

DO NOT USE A CITATION MACHINE. LEARN HOW TO WRITE A CITATION.
CITATION/ANNOTATION CHECK LIST:
1. All citations must be in MLA format.
2. Use Times New Roman type at 12 pts. for all ELP work.
3. Double space all lines in the Annotated Bibliography.
4. Indent all lines of the citation and annotation entries EXCEPT the first line of each citation.
5. Use one-inch margins on all sides of the document.
6. Write in the third person. Do not use I, you, me, we, etc.
7. Do not refer to your ELP research.
8. Each annotation must contain the following:
- One sentence stating the purpose or findings of the author. (What the book/article was about).
- One sentence stating if there were any photographs, illustrations, or charts.
- One sentence stating if there were any limitations to the source. (In other words, was there something missing the author could have included).
- One sentence stating who would find the source useful.

Buechner, Thomas S. Norman Rockwell A Sixty Year Retrospective. New York: Harry N.

The book illustrates Rockwell’s work in chronological order in twenty-year increments. It includes a brief autobiography related to his artistic career, including his schooling and how he became an artist. Over 150 of his paintings are illustrated in the book, including an overview on how he developed his work and the story behind selected paintings. The book is valuable to someone looking to research Rockwell’s career, as it is a well-organized overview in a chronological timeline. A limitation includes the fact that not all of Rockwell’s work is explained and is limited to what the author chooses.
2. One entry must be an article from a professional journal that was obtained from a database (See Neumann library). – Notice that the URL is not required for a database entry. However, a URL for an approved Web site is required in the Annotated Bibliography.

Greenhill, Jennifer A. “The View from Outside: Rockwell and Race in 1950.” American Art 21.2

The article provides a background of the paintings that Norman Rockwell created focusing on the epidemic America had with the color of race. Nearly two-dozen examples of his artwork are provided in the article. It describes how racism existed in America and how Rockwell depicted it in his work throughout his career. It chronicles racism in America and when, or how, Rockwell’s work connected to it. A fan of Norman Rockwell and one who has an interest in racism would find this source valuable. This is true since the author provides specific examples how Rockwell blended art with the controversial topic of racism in America. A limitation of the article is that it does not analyze all of the work that Rockwell created based on the Civil Rights Movement.
