Students will be expected to read as many mainstream article briefs written by other students as they can every week to better understand current information and issues regarding the topics.
However, you only must synthesize three briefs every week, as follows:
- Each week choose three different briefs written by other students that are of interest to you and support or challenge the article you read for your brief.
- Your synthesis should be of the information in the briefs and not how the students wrote or presented it.
- Your synthesis should be written in word format and be between 700-1000 words single spaced.Please include a word count at the end of your synthesis.
- Your synthesis should have a cover page (see template below). The cover page does not count in your word count.
- The narrative of your synthesis should have the following headings, followed by your text. Please give examples of data and text from the other students’ briefs to support your own narrative (no need to cite):
- Heading: Why I picked these briefs
- Heading: Commonalities/differences
- Heading: Data about the issue(s)
- Heading: Data about resolving the issue(s)
- Heading: Suggestions
- When finished, upload your synthesis onto Blackboard. They will only be reviewed by the professor.
- The synthesis is due by 4:30pm the Monday after the briefs were due. For example, if the briefs are due February 10, the syntheses are due February 17. Unless you have an excused absence pre-approved by the professor, you should upload the complete assignment on time
- If the complete assignment is uploaded the day after the due date, you will only receive 70% credit. No credit will be given if it is uploaded after that.
