2023 Nursing HCA 430 Week 3 Assignment Assessment of Community-Level Barriers

For the second written assignment of the course you will continue in 2023

For the second written assignment of the course, you will continue in the design of your proposed model program by demonstrating your understanding of your selected population’s challenges, which negatively impact this group’s health and well-being. Based on this week’s research, conduct an assessment of the barriers, limitations, and other distinguishing features, as they exist within your community.

  • Prepare a recap of the model program for your community that you originally shared in the week 2 written assignment. As stated in the Week Two directions, changes to the potential program can be made as you research and develop the focus of the program.

  • Analyze and discuss at least three critical barriers that impact the health and well-being of your chosen group; one must be a micro-level (individual) barrier that is financial, one must be a macro-level (community/state) barrier that relates to access and funding for care, and the third barrier may be one of your choosing.

  • Discuss at least one proposed solution for each barrier. Your solution for the micro barrier must include an analysis of various potential funding options (both independent and integrated). Your solution for the macro barrier must include an analysis of financing resources for health care.

  • Research and analyze the regulatory, legal, ethical, and accreditation requirements and issues for the service(s) offered in your proposed program. Discuss how each will impact the management of the program.

Your assignment should be a minimum of three pages in length (excluding title and reference pages) and should include a minimum of three scholarly sources cited according to APA guidelines as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. Please note: All assignments in this course are progressive; therefore you should use the same population selected in your Week Two assignment. The Week Two assignment’s contents do not need to be re- submitted with this assignment.

DISCUSSION BOARD DUE THURSDAY Discussion Starting a Fitness Program Americans can substantially improve their health and quality 2023

DISCUSSION BOARD DUE THURSDAY

Discussion: Starting a Fitness Program

“Americans can substantially improve their health and quality of life by including moderate amounts of physical activity in their daily lives.” —Dr. Audrey Manley, Surgeon General of the United States, 1999

Most people know that physical activity is necessary for good health. Surveys indicate that women and men of all ages, races, and socioeconomic backgrounds believe that regular fitness is a key component of a healthy lifestyle. The majority of adults, however, do not meet the physical activity recommendation of 30 minutes of moderate-intensity daily exercise. The public is often confused regarding what type and amount of physical activity is recommended for health, fitness, and weight control.

According to the Surgeon General of the United States (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 1999), a moderate amount of physical activity includes 30 minutes of brisk walking or raking leaves, 15 minutes of running, or 45 minutes of playing volleyball on most, if not all, days of the week. One of the benefits of the physical activity guidelines is the flexibility in how they may be applied. The key is to elevate the heart rate and/or engage the muscles in some form of physical activity, not the precise form of the activity. From the professional athlete to someone with limited mobility, physical activity is equally important for health and longevity.

To prepare for this Discussion:

  • Consider your current physical fitness routine.
  • Review Chapter 1, “Understanding Fitness and Wellness” and pay particular attention to the benefits of participating in a fitness program.
  • Review the article “Physical Inactivity: The Biggest Public Health Problem of the 21st Century.” Focus on the benefits of increased physical activity and the consequences of physical inactivity.
  • Review Chapter 2, “General Principles of Exercise for Health and Fitness” and consider your personal fitness goals.
  • Consider the different obstacles that might prevent you from participating in a fitness program and strategies you might implement to overcome these obstacles.
  • By Day 4

Post a brief description of your current fitness routine and two personal fitness goals. Then describe two personal benefits of engaging in a fitness program. Finally, provide two strategies for overcoming obstacles that might prevent you from achieving your goals

2023 Nursing comment from post 6

In my institution the type of evidence based practice that we have implemented is the use of hand washing 2023

In my institution, the type of evidence based practice that we have implemented is the use of hand washing techniques (Umwangange, 2016) . Hands are the most common vectors for transmission of infections between individuals as well as environmental factors in hospitals. Particularly in hospitals, the rate of infection is considerably higher. Therefore, healthcare professionals should wash their hands frequently with traditional water and soap or alcohol-based hand rubs.  Moreover, in my institution, we have adopted the use of soap and water technique of handwashing as the gold standard. It is recommended that washing hands, it is important to wet the hands first. Then apply 5ml of soap to hands. Preferably the use of liquid soap as opposed to bar soap. Next running hand thoroughly for a minimum of 15 seconds and cover all surfaces of the hand. Finally rinse hands thoroughly and dry them with a clean towel. Additionally, alcohol-based agents are used before direct contact with patients, after removing gloves and in emergency situations where sinks are not available. My institution has implemented the use of secret shoppers to monitor compliance with hand washing guidlines. Personnel that do not comply are advised to observe the specified hand washing guidlines.
