In this lab, you will investigate the correlation between weather and air quality, by reviewing trends in air quality for ozone and particulate matter in your local area over the past year. Develop two hypotheses: ï‚· About the impact of the time of year on ozone levels, and ï‚· About the impact of the time of the year on the level of particulate matter in the air. Then, 1. Visit the AirNow website at http://www.airnow.gov and type your Zip Code in the Local Air Quality Conditions menu (top, right-hand side of the page). 3. Review today’s Daily Air Quality Index (AQI) Ozone levels and record this information under the Ozone AQI column for this month in the SC236: Lab Two Microsoft Excel file. 4. Review today’s Daily AQI PM2.5 and record this information under the Particulate (AQI) SC236: Lab Two Microsoft Excel file. 5. Select a date that is one month earlier and repeat Steps 4 and 5. Repeat this process until you have Ozone and PM2.5 AQI values for each month of the past year. 6. Next, review the graphs in the SC236: Lab Two Microsoft Excel file. If you do not have Microsoft Excel, create a line graph that displays dates on the x-axis and Particulate Matter Daily 24-Hour AQI values on the y-axis.
