- Choose your Story TYPE
- For example: Cartoon; Mystery; Western; Melodrama; Action/Adventure; Fairytale; Slapstick comedy; Science Fiction/Horror; Love Story; etc.
- Choose your SETTING (time & place your story is taking place in)

- Write down who they are.
- For example: Are they the richest woman in town? Or perhaps an ordinary guy, or a nerdy teen etc.
- Write 3 descriptive words about each characterâ€s personality.
- Write down at least one distinct physical characteristic for each character.
- Write down at least one distinct/signature costume element for each character.
- (For example: Are they extremely tall, do they have a prominent gray streak in their hair, do they walk with a cane or have a special belt buckle?)
- What is the PROBLEM (Point of Conflict) in your play?And describe the context of the conflict- why is it a problem/conflict?
- For example: Is someone hiding a big secret, was there a tragic accident, is there a thief on the loose etc.
- What is the CLIMAX of the story? What happens that the problem comes to a head?
- What is the RESOLUTION? (How is the problem resolved)?
- For example: Is the thief caught red handed and taken to jail? Is the big secret gossiped all over town, only for the character to find that people donâ€t think less of her/him at all?

- What is the CONCLUSION? (How does life go on for these characters?)
- WRITE 1-2 pages or one scene of dialog for your childrenâ€s tale, whichever is longer.
