As you answer this question, please consider and account for the following:
Does it matter if they live in an area where there is a lot of gang activity? What do the statistics say and what do the anecdotal experiences you have seen in the course say? To those who feel there is not a choice, how do you explain that the percentage of people who get involved in gangs in areas where there is significant gang activity is actually lower than the percentage of people who do not get involved in gangs? Isn’t that proof that people are not a product of their environment? To those who feel there is a choice, how do you explain that there are higher percentages of people involved in gangs in areas where there is more gang activity? Isn’t that proof that people are a product of their environment?
Students are expected to participate in the Discussion Board in each module. Each student should make two posts, one in response to the posted discussion board topic and one in response to other posts. It is helpful and engaging to include personal experiences and opinions, but these things alone will not satisfy the requirements for discussion boards in this course.
