discussion board 1295
The three readings assigned for Project Three (“Let Us Eat Cake,” “Even the Bernini of Buttercream has to Serve Gay Couples,” and “A Baker’s First Amendment Rights”) each come at the issue from a different perspective.
For Part One of this discussion board, I’d like you to talk about the tone of each text and why you think the writer has written it that way? (One big hint: using a strong/angry/sarcastic tone usually suggests a writer thinks their audience shares their point of view.) Be sure to quote directly from the text to multiple examples of language that supports what you are saying.
For Part Two, notice the differences or similarities between your answers and the answers of others in your group. See if their reasoning makes sense to you? Respond to each person’s post engaging in a discussion about how/why you see what they see or don’t.
As with Class Discussions, what’s important here is the work with the text — although comprehension is part of the score, it’s working with these ideas thoroughly that will count the most.
