Project
The project for this unit will require you to assume the persona of one of the speakers in the poems we have read and create a history and story of that person. It will ask you to not only be creative but to really look inside the thoughts, feelings, and soul of one of the people who made a choice in this unit.
Goal
Your goal here is to have whoever views this project come away with a greater understanding of how the character felt about the decision they have made or are about to make.
Role
You can choose any speaker (or character) in the poems, and then you will create a project that includes this person’s past and present, focusing especially on the decision that person made in the poem.
Audience
Your audience is an editor at a publishing company.
Situation
You are being asked to create a multi-genre project. This project will display a collection of different genres of literature or art that you create around a central theme. The purpose of this multi-genre approach is to provide an overall introspection as to a particular character’s thoughts, feelings and emotions when presented with a difficult decision. You should produce a minimum of 5 different pieces from the possibilities below. These pieces should each reveal something about the character’s thought, feelings and emotions. Feel free to give your character a made-up name. You are not limited to the choices below. If there are other genres you would like to pursue, just clear it with me.

Standards for Success
Your project will feature a wide variety of genres from the list given. The project will provide an accurate and authentic look into the character’s thoughts about the decision made in the text being discussed–the poem, the song, etc. The artifacts you include from the genre list will appear authentic. If you choose a book jacket, for example, you would fold a piece of paper to actually look like a book jacket and create it. A job application would be an actual application from somewhere the character might have applied. (It’s OK to use white-out to change the name of the place applying to.) Everything in the project will actually look like the item it is supposed to be.
