The health maintenance is an extremely important issue for any society with any socio-economic system. To achieve specific health care goals, several plans, decisions, and actions must be undertaken within a society or nation. Moreover, the government elite must be aware about health issues and necessities. A health care policy outlines priorities and expected roles of key stakeholders as well as informing people (Patel & Rushefsky, 2014). Recently, Following Trump’s election into office as the Head of the United States, the debate over health care took another angle, and his administration unveiled multiple proposals to reshape the health care policies.
Initially, the Affordable Care Act, nicknamed as Obamacare had been enacted into law in 2010 by former President Obama. Reforming health care was a priority. Obamacare coverage expanded countrywide with the aim of lowering health care costs over time since the Medicaid, employee health benefits and Medicare were eating up the federal budget (Oberlander, 2012). Its strategies meant more citizens would get treatment faster by making health insurance affordable by guaranteeing subsidies, putting more emphasis on preventive care and bettering delivery of health care itself. However, Obamacare has faced a lot of criticism and with President Trump stepping onto power, plans to replace it kicked off. Trumps plan to replace it contains different reducing cost strategies. Trump has made controversial changes to Medicaid. Besides, his other major focus is the cost of drugs. Repeatedly, his administration has decried the rising drug prices, which resulted in unleashing proposals to contain the costs. Over to Medicare, his administration has continually made private Medicare plans more attractive. In matters access to birth control, Trumps administration issued two rules that would free more employers from Obamacare’s contraceptive mandate and abortion.
In conclusion, in the coming years, Trumps plans to bring plenty of changes to the Affordable Care Act as he consistently unleashes executive changes to undermine the surprisingly resilient Obamacare exchanges. His officials hint that the move is aimed at providing more affordable health care options as they are particularly concerned about the America’s health future.
