Field Stock Assessments and their Limitations

Two-page essay, double-spaced, approximately 600-700 words
students will describe the methods and limits of scientific investigation as used in marine fish stock assessments.
Scoring will be based on the following criteria:
ability to establish the context of subject matter in the introduction,
content accuracy and comprehension of the logic behind method, data acquisition, nature of data analysis and outcomes of scientific investigations, and
a limitation of each method in achieving reliable and verifiable estimates and the application of the results to the overall goals of fish stock assessment.
All material required for this assignment has been provided in Expedition 3, 4 and 5, and associated required reading assignments — no outside literature is necessary.
The essay should be written in third person narrative style as it is a technical essay.

Use of in-text reference citations, and associated bibliography, is optional and not included in word limit. Use either MLA or APA formats, if you chose to use in-text citations.

The essay is double-spaced, so keep a sharp focus on the methods and limits of fish stock assessment
