However, the ultimate academic objective of the exercise—and thus the major grounds for its assessment—is an active engagement with the conceptual and critical content of the subject. This engagement can be realized and evidenced in many ways: through explicit discussion of content from the reader and lectures; through discussion of issues that reflect, touch upon, exemplify and/or illuminate subject material in various ways; through a reflection upon one’s learning experiences in the subject or at university more generally; through discussion of issues drawn from the diverse field of contemporary media cultures.
