This is Part 1 of Presentation Project. You need to select a topic for your presentation. Please choose your topic from the list below:
- Clinical Information System (CIS)
- Document Management System (DMS)
- Emergency Department System (EDS)
- Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Nursing Information System (NIS)
- Pharmacy Information System (PIS)
- Picture Archival Communication System (PACS)
- Radiology Information System (RIS)
The above topics make up the Hospital Information System or HIS. The HIS allows access to and communication between the systems. Select a system that will hold your interest. It could be a new one to you or one you use every day in your professional life. Remember, you will be researching and writing about this for the rest of the course.
In Part 1, I want you to address the following points:

- It’s importance to Health Information Technology
- Why it interests you
- At least two peer-reviewed research articles backing up its importance to Health Information Technology
