This paper seeks to question the ethics surrounding genetic engineering in our modern society where numerous technological developments have been witnessed. I start with arguments Sandel made on genetic enhancement of human beings and the likelihood of manipulating genetics. Sandel has been able to explore all aspects related genetic engineering and their implications; negative and positive. I considered athletes who use genetic engineering and drugs to enhance their ability as an example to address the morality surrounding the act. I also consider how parents select desired traits for their children and the effect it will have on the society. I would like to research further to ascertain if genetic engineering has been of more harm than good to the community. Among the things working on my draft include how gene therapy has been used by athletes to repair their muscles. I am worried that improper use of genetic engineering if not controlled will at the end of the day be disastrous, for example, it becoming an alternative for consumers who will soon purely depend on it. People need to be enlightened concerning the implications awaiting them if they depend on genetic engineering. Through the arguments discussed, I have been able to understand some of the unethical activities related to genetic engineering.
