When King George III took the crown in 1760, Americans appeared to be proud of their British heritage. (“Revolutionary War”, n.d.) In 1763, Britain faced a depletion of funds related to protecting America in the French and Indian war. (“Revolutionary War”, n.d.)In order to recuperate funds, they placed stringent tax policies on Americans and aggressive ways to collect. American people felt this was a violation on their liberty. This was the start of conflict between Americans and Britain. The most important event that really started the revolutionary war was King George’s inability to listen to the complaints of his people and take them seriously. His people revolted and banded together to dump 342 chest of tea into the Boston Harbor to protest against the Tea Act. (Keene et al, 2013)This caused a ripple of more stringent measures put into place in attempt to control the people. The more control King George attempted to gain, the more Americans revolted thus the Revolutionary War.
