Now that you have read the graphic novel Fahrenheit 451 and reviewed the Guidelines for Essay #3, come up 3-5 examples where a rhetorical appeal or strategy is being used by the author or illustrator. Be sure to indicate the Part (I, II, or III), page and panel number(s), and also explain which strategy is being used, and why. Please embed images from the graphic novel to help illustrate what you are discussing. Please make sure you are embedding the images, not attaching them, since you don’t want students to have to download anything. Check out the tutorial here (Links to an external site.) if you need help embedding an image in a discussion post. Below are some sample questions to take into consideration for your talking points in this discussion. Feel free to choose whichever ones you want to focus on, but do not try to answer all of them:
- Which rhetorical appeals (logos, pathos, ethos) were used to build characters within the story?
- What aspects of the story make the reader question the logic or ethics of this society or certain characters?
- Were certain colors used to enhance emotions (the appeal to pathos), such as fear, happiness, sadness, nostalgia, outrage, etc.?
- Were certain objects (symbols) or the expressions/movements of characters used to enhance or demonstrate the emotions of characters (appeal to pathos)?

You will respond to my initial thread. This post, as all of your discussion posts this semester, should be 150-350 words. You do not need to include this word count; however, use the word count at the bottom right corner of the text box to ensure you are staying within the appropriate range.
By Thursday, 4/9
Remember that you must reply to at least 2 other students by Thursday, though you can certainly do it sooner. Make sure your replies are thoughtful, respectful, and specific. Since this is a threaded discussion, it is imperative for you to refer to students by their names in your replies so it is especially clear who you are responding to. Also, all replies to students should be 25-100 words in length, though you need not include this word count in the replies.
