Instructions:
In this module we have been looking at the dismantling of the historic Métis Nation and the reformulation of the modern Métis Nation. For this assignment you will be expected to integrate information from the various sources that we have examined in all three modules, including readings and Internet sources. You will also be expected to integrate information from the discussion activities and Internet activities from all three modules.
This assignment will be a 6-7 page (1,250 word minimum) essay assignment building on these sources in the form of journal entries.
For your journal entries you will have to:
- Write from the perspective of a fictional Métis individual;
- Record events from your “life” that cover a period of at least 80 years;
- Include some “ordinary” days, which would give the reader a sense of what life was like at different times in Métis history;
- Include some entries that relate to some of the major events in Métis history to consider the individualâ€
s perspective on these events.
The purpose of this assignment is to make connections between the different periods in Métis history and the impact of different events on the lives of Métis individuals and their communities. It is an opportunity for you to reflect on the various events and changes in the time period that we have studied and communicate your understanding of this material through the format of a journal. This assignment is intended to build on your timeline, notes, and readings, by drawing from what you have learned and constructing a fictional individualâ€s history and experiences to communicate this knowledge.
There is no requirement for citations in this assignment due to the format.
