In preparation for this assignment complete the following activities:
- Find an actual job position announcement that you can apply for now or upon receiving the degree you are currently working toward. Some places to look for an available job postings include:
- the classifieds (in your local newspaper, but also others around the state and country)
- the SFCC career center for postings/ announcements or use of their online job searching resources
- search engines such as www.monster.com
- search a specific organization (such as Shriners Hospitals for Children, Sony Music Entertainment, or a school district) for job postings.
- Include the link to the job position announcement OR copy and paste the announcement in your assignment. You should also save it on your computer for future reference.
- Please don’t choose dream jobs that you are currently not qualified to apply for. Ask if you have any questions.
Assignment Directions:
- The next step is to analyze the job description you found.
- Answer a series of questions about the organization and position you are applying for:
- Name of organization/ company and position you are applying for?
- What do you know about this organization/ company (when were they established? what do they do? how many employees do they have? etc.)?
- What are the main responsibilities of the position you are applying for?
- What is their mission statement or organizational goals and values (look on their website)?
- Who is the director or head of the organization?
- What is the average salary for the position you are interested in (if it’s not listed in the job announcement, look up comparable positions)?
