Literature Review section

Prepare the Literature Review section of your paper. Begin with an introductory paragraph that describes your search parameters and what databases were used. Be sure to avoid first person (I, we, me, us, etc.). Include at least one paragraph for each of your sources chosen in your Annotated Bibliography. This is not a repeat of the annotations in the annotated bibliography, but should be written as an essay that flows easily from one point to the next. Remember, your literature review should be at least seven paragraphs, but not more than twelve paragraphs. Each paragraph should be at least three sentences in length, but only contain one or two main points and support. Review your APA resources for how to properly cite references in your text. This is where you will apply in-text citation rules, as each paragraph will indicate the reference from which the information is taken.

FEED BACK: Nice work! The introduction only needs one header. Please remove, “Introduction”. This is wonderful!!

Also prepare your reference page. Please review your APA resources as mentioned previously. Submit the entire document. However, only the literature review and reference page will be graded in this module.

Abstract

Causes and Effects of Heart Diseases

Introduction

Heart diseases are among the illness that constitutes a lot of death cases that might be reported daily. In the last three years, research from the World Health Organization shows that around 300000 people died from heart diseases a previous year (Virani et al., 2020). Thus, after attending the class that had a discussion about heart diseases, it motivated me to learn more about heart diseases. Could you ever imagine the number of people in the entire world who are willing to know the causes of heart diseases so that they can take caution on what to do and what to avoid? Therefore, this forms another aspect of motivation to carry out the study as it would help the individuals in society and my career as I would be able to become a professional doctor. Among the many causes of heart disease is the lifestyle an individual has, for example, engagement in smoking, having an unhealthy diet, and many more (Coles & Mensah, 2017). Lamentably, there is an increase in the number of deaths from heart disease, and unawareness of the causes of heart disease, it would be necessary to study the causes as well as the effects of heart disease, because the health of a person promotes his or her well-being.

Coles, E., & amp; Mensah, G. (2017). The Burden of Heart, Lung, and Blood Diseases in the United States, 1990 to 2016: Perspectives from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. Global Heart, 12(4), 349. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.gheart.2017.11.001.

The article focus on showing the burden that the heart, lung, and blood diseases have caused to the United States. The authors were able to spot the number of deaths that occurred from the cases related to heart diseases. Therefore, this allowed them to offer directions on how the government could ensure steward leadership and introduce research programs that would help reduce the cases related to heart disease. The research conducted and data provided by the authors, it is clear that heart diseases are the leading cause of deaths in the United States. The explanation of age-standardized rates also shows the reasons and activities that people engage in and leads to heart disease. Therefore, in the end, the rate at which people die per a specific age bracket becomes high. This makes the population of the country also to decrease as many people die. The article is relevant to my paper since it highlights the impacts of heart diseases on a community and the activities people engage in that could lead to heart disease contraction. Besides, the findings were discussed across the population in the United States and addressed the effects of heart diseases on the population, making it also relevant to the topic.

Virani, S. S., Alonso, A., Benjamin, E. J., Bittencourt, M. S., Callaway, C. W., Carson, A. P., …& Djousse, L. (2020). Heart disease and stroke statistics-2020 update: a report from the American Heart Association. Circulation, 141(9), e139-e596.

The authors focused on giving reports about heart diseases and stroke and the outcomes that come from these diseases. The research was done due to the increase in the number of death cases that come from heart diseases. Besides, the citizens of the country were not aware of some of the causes of heart diseases, and this attracted the attention of the American Heart Association to use the committee to carry out the research. The explanation of this was derived from causes like Tobacco use, whereby a lot of citizens in the United States use electronic cigarettes, which they tend to assume the effects they can bring to a human body. From the article, vascular factors are responsible for stroke in older people and young people. Thus, in most cases, the joint effects of heart disease may lead to individuals becoming depressed. In the end, the victims suffering from the disease are advised to accept the situation and use the prescriptions to prevent pain. This journal is relevant to my study as it shows the cause and effects of heart disease and how people could accept the situation they are in if they have the disease. This is done by the information they would have from the causes and effects of heart diseases.

The journal primarily focuses on how the exercise-based CR would lead to a reduction of cases involving cardiovascular mortality. Thus, the author brings out the systematic review that is attained from the analysis done between a particular numbers of people in a period of six months. Therefore, to achieve suitable results, the author utilizes public opinion on how what they engage in as exercise to reduce the probability of contracting heart diseases. The research is also incorporated with the quality of life an individual has when he or she has heart disease. Generally, the results from the study show that exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation ensures that the quality of life and health of a person is maintained, reducing cardiovascular mortality. This is appropriate for my research question, as it shows how individuals can prevent heart disease contractions.

Zaidi, S., & Brueckner, M. (2017). Genetics and genomics of congenital heart disease. Circulation research120(6), 923-940.

The journal points out how CHD is a congenital disability and the advancements of the disease as an individual grows up. According to the research, the number of adults living with CHD is high as compared to the children. This is done by the improvements from the medical and surgical management. The authors also address the issue by focusing on families and patients diagnosed with congenital heart disease. Thus, it shows the disease’s transition through a phenotype and how the parents can get rid of it. The articles relate to the research topic, whereby it shows that other factors cause heart disease other than the assumed factors like smoking.

The book primarily focuses on how chest pains, depression, and anxiety would lead to the contraction of CHD. Therefore, the authors carry out interviews in various healthcare facilities as they have access to data on individuals with coronary heart disease. From the research, we can see that chest pain is the leading factor that increases the chances of contracting heart disease. On the other hand, anxiety and depression do not have a substantial baseline for heart diseases. Therefore, this makes it stress and depression to have an intermediate relationship with chest pains. The book remains relevant to my research topic, as it discusses the link between heart disease and chest pains, anxiety, and depression.

The article focuses on atherosclerotic plaques that are brought by the dead cells, which leads to the contraction of heart disease. When the plaque cells deposit in the body of an individual, they are found in the arteries, and the store’s percentage determines the probability of having heart disease. Besides, the study also shows the advancement of plaques until it forms the vulnerable plaques that may become leaky, and it would not cause a problem to an individual. Finally, the journal is relevant to my research topic as it shows the role plaques play in the contraction of heart disease. Therefore, people can learn how they can prevent such causes of…
