Organization Attractiveness

Before any potential employees consider applying for a position in an organization, there are attributes that make them interested in the organization in the first place. Whether potential employees find out about these attributes through a job posting or word of mouth, organizations are ultimately responsible for making themselves attractive to potential employees. These attributes may include but are not limited to pay, rapport with coworkers, benefits, job growth, and enjoyment of job responsibilities.

” The War for Talent

“Effective talent acquisition starts with a sound talent strategy: a conscious decision regarding what methods and approaches to use to identify,source, and secure the best talent in the market,” (Silzer& Dowell, 2010, p. 124). It is very important for employers to take time to analyze and understand their actual business plans so that they could be sure to hire employees who will get the job done.

Attributes that make an organization attractive to me are location, company size, having a solid background, great pay, benefits, and bonuses. I do believe that the attributes that I have described are applicable when recruiting talent in the general workforce. From the employee’s perspective, we tend to look for companies who are not too far from our residence, don’t have a high turnover, and definitely has great benefits. From the employer’s perspective, I believe all of these things are essential to recruitment, but you may not find most of the key information out until you are actually hired.

Benefits, pay, and location are probably the main attributes that allow talented people to choose one organization over another. Moreover, I prefer companies who are upfront with information regarding pay and benefits, such as listing this information online or in job postings. Organizations who keep this information confidential could possibly lose talented people to organizations who informed potential employees initially. “

“Differentation and the credibility of an organization are two attributes that are most attractive to myself. Before applying to an organization, one is most likely to research the reputation of an organization, especially if it is unknown. Due to the plethora of organizations, within the workforce, “the ability to stand out to differentiate oneself is critical” (Silzer, R., & Dowell, B. E., 2010, p. 132). This is an imperative factor when choosing an organization that I would potentially like to be employed by, as I am able to compare the characteristics of an organization and then decide if it is fitting for myself. Once I have researched the reputation of the organization, I believe further research should be completed regarding the credibility of the organization, as “it is essential that a potential candidate is confident that what you see is what you get and that what you hear is how it is” (Silzer, R., & Dowell, B. E., 2010, p. 133).Through the credibility developed of an organization on can make a sound decision as to if the organization is fitting for them, based on their personality.

While the reputation of the organization is imperative to me, developmental programs and the work environment are also. Developmental programs within the organization, “not only helps the company as a whole, but also motivates employees to stand behind their leaders” (Greenberg, H., & Sweeney, P., 2010, p. 58). Developmental programs also provides employees with the opportunity to develop and with time, become develop those leadership qualities that the organization is seeking.The work environment is also important, as it is imperative that employees not only have a hone a sense of belonging, but also feel that positivity is fostered and developed to all stakeholders. While developmental programs and the work environment are attributes that make and organization, these are also attributes to are applicable to recruiting within an organization, as no employee wants to be employed in a negative environment were their skills are not being developed and provided with opportunities to increased their knowledge.”
