• What makes Web-based management such a successful approach? Is it only the convenience? Support your answers with good reasons and examples. Web-based management tools can be product-line specific or can be product neutral. What do you think are the pros and cons of each approach? Explain how SNMP is related to Web-based management.
• Your readings from your textbook Cloud Computing: Concepts, Technology & Architecture introduced several specialized cloud mechanisms that involve intercepting inbound messages, such as Automated Scaling Listener, Load Balancer, SLA Monitor, Pay-Per-Use Monitor, and Audit Monitor. Discuss architecture considerations pertaining to the implementation of these mechanisms in a cloud. For example, would you use virtual resources? Dedicated physical resources? Would you consider integrating some of these mechanisms under shared virtual or physical resources? How much fault-tolerance should apply?
• Research a company that offers a Web-based management solution (a technology supplier, or a cloud provider). Review basic features supported by such a solution. Discuss how the mechanism adds value to cloud-based offerings.
