In order to decrease the risk of CAUTI in patients, there should be protocols in place for indwelling urinary catheters. According to (Bernard et al., 2012) urinary catheters are used without clear indications. It isvital for nurses to assess the need for indwelling urinary catheters. This in result increases the risk of CAUTI and can also be costly for the facility.
