Patient flow map process in hospital
The process flow map above shows the process a patient needs to go through in healthcare to get the treatment that one requires. It shows acute care, which most patients prefer because the entire test needed is done and medication is given. In the flow map, the first step is the arrival of the patient, and he or she is directed to the counter where registration takes place. In the registration, the patient information is noted down and later led to medical assistance that will help in diagnosis ( Armony, et.al,2015).The patient is directed to the examination room where one describes the problem, and the medical assistant takes the necessary examination. After examination, the patient proceeds to the test room where different test are made like a blood test, done according to the symptoms. When all is done, the patients need to wait for the results of what one may be suffering from and directed to the pharmacy to take medicines needed. After the medication, the patient can now leave the hospital satisfied with the service given.
As one of the doctors, I was able to gather the information quickly, and they were available as it is my daily job dealing with different patients having different symptoms. The hospital operating system is accurate because the patient is taken care of in the best way as the process is followed to avoid having unsatisfied patients. However, the area that needs to be improved it the waiting process that a patient undergoes, which needs to be reduced. To accomplish it, more people taking care of the patient should be increased (Lovett, & Sweeney, 2016). The flow analysis is an essential tool in financial decisions because the management of the hospital will be able to know how many patients were attended and ensure that the medication needed is provided. One of the disadvantages of not using the flow is that the hospital will not know how the patients were served and if they got the entire assistant that they need.
