The rough draft of your research summary should include:

    • Intro (not labeled)
      • Mention audience (this might not be the impacted pop. Maybe you’re presenting the memo to the imaginary non-profit you work for)
      • Purpose statement
    • Background Information
    • Explanation of the Problem
    • Causes of the Problem
    • Impacted Population
    • Conclusion(brief, and not labeled, and usually an idea of how the problem could be resolved/where it’s heading)
      • References
      • Primary research needs to mentioned/utilized openly in the summary in some way

    • Memo format
    • Include in-text citations throughout (APA format)
    • References (APA format—should include at least 3 sources: 1 scholarly source and 1 primary source, and 1 of your choice)
    • Primary sources do not have to be cited as an in-text citation. Merely refer to your data set somehow in the memo as a “primary source” (so that I can tell you used a primary source), describe why it was relevant/findings, and the title of the website where you collected the information from (if applicable).
      • Then, as the third source on the reference page, include a URL for your primary data
      • Somewhere in the paper, include a screenshot of your primary source info (if it was collected digitally), and add the proper caption
