RIP Project: Genre Models and Being a Good Mimic

The best way to learn is by following someone who knows how to already get the job done.
Start looking for a text in your genre that you can model.
For this homework, you want to show in detail how you see a skill in action in your model, and then you want to imitate that skill in your own project.
Here’s an example of me showing a before and after example from a RIP project, and the revision is based off of the model. The model op ed did something very effectively, and so I wanted to imitate that for the RIP op ed.
This homework is excellent material for the eportfolio- isolating a genre convention in your model and showing how you executed this same genre convention in your own work is the goal here.

Also here are three VERY different genres, but they are tackling the same topic: nuclear war. One is a children’s book by Dr. Seuss. Another is an op-ed (open editorial). The third is a moving personal memoir. So even though the topic is the same, the genre’s are completely different and take very different rhetorical approaches to this subject matter.
