Consider forensic interviewers who frequently hear spiritually depleting stories of crimes against children. Consider that firefighters and emergency medical technicians often work several consecutive days at a time, forcing them to be away from their families while carrying out physically exhausting work. How could such occupational stressors contribute to the onset of vicarious trauma symptoms for helping professionals?
For this Assignment, select one interview from this week’s media carousel. Consider the occupational stressors the individual(s) might face. Also, consider which stressors you would find most challenging in carrying out this work and identify two ways you might address those challenges.
