Part 1
We all have a responsibility to be prepared in case of a disaster. There are many education and outreach programs that target a number of audiences.
Refer back to one specific hazard you identified earlier from your own jurisdiction. Respond to and discuss the following questions. APA references for this conference are not necessary.
• Do you or your family have an emergency plan? If yes, describe it.
• Do you or your family have an emergency kit? If yes, what is in it?
• If you have an emergency plan, do you practice it? How?
Part 2
Consider the topic of national preparedness. This has never been more evident as being a necessity than after some of the most recent terrorist attacks and natural disasters. People must be prepared on a personal level, but the local/state/Federal government must also be prepared.
Pick one non-governmental organization (NGO) and list three ways in which that entity helps one (or all) of the three branches of government to be prepared for a disaster. Be sure to specify what their role is for each of these areas.
Part 3
Terrorism is mostly thought of as coming from specific groups of individuals with a common ideal – groups like ISIS come to mind. Sometimes a country or their regime could be thought of in a terrorist light. Chose one foreign country or regime and give two reasons why you feel they qualify as equivalent to a terrorist organization. Use scholarly references to support your position.
Part 4
The field of Homeland Security has changed tremendously through the years. Change seems to be inevitable, especially in the post 9/11 society in which we live and operate. What will change or how will the field of Homeland Security change in the future. This can be short-term or long-term change, permanent or temporary change, etc. In short, this is your opinion…what do you believe? (no need for citations or APA format since this is your opinion).
Note: For Parts 1-4, Initial Response of a minimum of 200 words and two (2) follow-up responses of more than 50 words.
