Cardiorespiratory issues affect many people rehabilitation for both issues are available. According to the American Heart Association, cardiac rehabilitation is a program created to improve cardiovascular health with exercise counseling and training, education for heart healthy living, and counseling to reduce stress (What is Cardiac Rehabilitation, n.d.). Pulmonary rehabilitation is a program for individuals who have chronic breathing problems and designed to help improve their abolition to function and quality of life by education training, nutritional counseling, education about the disease and how to manage it, techniques to be used to conserve energy, breathing strategies and psychological counseling and/or support groups (Pulmonary Rehabilitation | Cystic Fibrosis | COPD, 2019). Other resources necessary for nonacute care for cardiorespiratory issues include home health which allows individuals to understand their disease process, gain assistance with medication management, and education about the use of durable medical equipment. Home health may also include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and social workers which will allow individuals to have better quality of care from many different disciplinarians. All of the above mentioned resources support patient independence by providing quality of care and quality of life for patients which will decrease readmission. By having support from doctors, nurses, family, and friends, an individual is more likely to be compliant and want a better lifestyle. Through education and taking measurements to manage their disease, individuals can have a better life.
