understanding the psychological aspects of conflict within social or professional groups.
I need initial Post of 150 words and two replies of 75-100 words on other students post. I attached the reply document which contains the replies of other students.
This week’s readings and resources focused on understanding the psychological aspects of conflict within social or professional groups. As professionals and workers, we have experienced on-the-job conflict—in some fashion. Reflect on your work experiences and create a short autobiographical sketch, using approximately 150-300 words, of a time where you experienced conflict at work.
Make sure the autobiographical sketch includes:
The story of the conflict
Those involved in the conflict
The point of contention/frustration driving the conflict
Whether the conflict was handled
If it was handled, what was the resolution?
If it was not handled, how would have you handled it?
Remember to integrate the concepts and ideas of this course into your autobiographical sketch.
Remember to include at least one APA citation and the associated reference. You should post by Wednesday at 11:59 PM, PST and post substantive responses (50 words) to at least two class members by Sunday at 11:59 PM, PST.
Did you create index or flash cards using a service like Brainscape or another sharable format? If so, please feel free to share your cards in the forum!

Conflicts at Work
My situation is one of me being overly helpful. Now currently, I work as a Timber cutter for McCarter Logging. This is a family-owned logging business and it’s been a learning experience ever since April of this year. Their dad’s name is Jr. McCarter or just Jr. and as far as I can tell it’s Jr. or dad or old man, he’s cool with the title of respect and come to find out, my father had worked for this same group of yahoo’s way back when. Moving on there is Jay McCarter, the eldest of the two brothers that I work with. Jay does most of the mechanic type work and runs the boom-loader. He doesn’t do it very often, but he can run the skidder[1]. Mike McCarter is the woodsman, he’s the go-to guy of the outfit. On the other hand, Mike is young, ambitious, and slightly arrogant. He carries a go, go let’s get it done attitude and is the man who agreed to hire me. Moving forward, Mike and I had a small disagreement that leads to the termination of my employment, be it very temporary as it was. I am the timber cutter, “I gets to fell the tree’s”, haha, (yes, that is what it is called, tree felling). On this day Mike had me chasing chokers[2] (which was not a part of my job description) instead of felling the rest of the trees on this client’s lot. In doing this, it gave the landowners mother a chance to complain to her son about the bare ground, the soil erosion and on and on this old lady went. Until he came up to Mike and said, “Do not to cut the rest of the trees on the lot”. Now the reason Mike blamed me was that the day before, I had missed work due to stomach issues. Needless to say, a bunch of crap was said, and the blame was thrown my way. He cussed and cursed like a blooming madman. I gracefully defended my position, I even had Jr. and Jay backing my side. Finally, Mike said that I needed to find a different job and that was the end of it. After about two weeks, Jay called and asked if I wanted to come back to work. Mike had gone to work in a factory up north somewhere. Well, heck yeah I do. Shortly thereafter Mike returned to the family business. He didn’t say anything at first. I kept working, talking with Jr. and Jay and minding my own place. Mike decided to apologize for going so far off the deep end, but that was a lot of money they lost. Now here we are, I’m still cutting timber and chasing chokers has been added to my job description.
[1] Skidder; A skidder is any type of heavy vehicle used in a logging operation for pulling cut trees out of a forest in a process called “skidding”, in which the logs are transported from the cutting site to a landing
[2] Choker setter; or choker for short; is a logger who attaches cables to logs for retrieval by skidders or skylines.

The conflict I experienced at work was when I was working at Taco Bell. I was working the drive-thru window, when I had a customer get mad because they have been waiting almost 5 minutes for their food. Granted we were busy , but I still had to let my manager know they were still waiting. So my manager started yelling at me in front of customers and other employees. She was yelling because the customer had been waiting too long. But I told her it wasn’t my fault it was hers and my coworkers fault because they were taking too long to make the food. She didn’t tell at the employees who were helping her make the food, she yelled at me the person handing out the food and taking orders. The thing that I think really made her mad was that we had people call out and it was very busy. The conflict was handled because I told my GM the whole story the next day. My GM basically told my manager that she should have taken me into the office and talked to me when the rush slowed down. She also told her not to yell at any employees in front of the customers. The resolution was my manager came to me and apologized. I just felt as though she was wrong for yelling at me in the first place.
