INTEREST GROUPS
Interest groups have long been central to American politics. Interest groups are voluntary groups of people who share a common goal or belief and hope to influence the government. Some groups focus on a single goal while others have a broad range of objectives.
1. What are the functions the interest groups in the American Political System? Of the functions mentioned, which is most important or has had the greatest impact for its members?
2. Select one of the Interest Groups mentioned in this chapter (or a national group you know) that has been effective in accomplishing one of the goals of interest groups. Which actions by the selected group have demonstrated its effectiveness? Previous or historical evidence can be presented in your post.
