The American Revolution involved tension, war, and alliances. During this period, the Declaration of Independence was written. Several years after the Revolution came the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. You have learned how leaders such Benjamin Franklin, James Madison, and George Washington helped to shape this time period.
The French Revolution also involved similar tensions and war as the American Revolution. In France, this period produced the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen, radicalism, and the Reign of Terror. Although both revolutions involved turmoil, their outcomes differed greatly.
For your portfolio item, you are required to use at least three valid sources to support your thesis. At least one of those sources should be a primary source. In review, a primary source is a source that offers a firsthand account of an event created at the time of the event. Examples of primary sources for this assignment might include excerpts from the Declaration of Independence or the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen.
